Matan is a Ph.D. candidate at the department of Computer Science at the Technion under the supervision of Prof. Ron Kimmel. He received B.Sc. (cum laude, GPA: 92.0) and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Technion–Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel, in 2012 and 2015, respectively. He is a TA of the course Geometric Computer Vision and a project supervisor at the Geometric Image Processing Laboratory. Prior to graduate school, Matan was a chip design engineer at the processor department of Intel Corp. for 3 years.
Matan received the Wilk Family Award in 2013, and Intel's Excellent Student Award in 2009. His main research interests are shape processing and analysis, geometric variational methods, applied differential geometry, machine learning, and optimization.
